And Bill promised to behave (1/1) Viki Goodland VEGoodland@hotmail.com "What are you doing for Christmas?" Mulder looked up from his desk to his partner. Red haired, blue eyed Dana Katherine Scully, M.D. and agent with the FBI. "Same as every year, Scully-nothing." "Wrong. You're coming with me to my mothers house." "No-I wouldn't want to intrude." "You wouldn't be. Mom said to invite you, and Bill promised to behave." "Well-I guess. Better go shopping. Wanna come?" Scully looked at her desk. "Sure. I need to get some gifts." Scully was sipping her iced tea. "I gotta go, Mulder. I'll pick you up tomorrow at 9 am. BE READY." "Sure." She got up and left. Mulder got home and put his bags on the table. He had a gift for everyone. He began to wrap them. Somehow during the day, he'd found time to buy Scully a present. He smiled. She'd love it. He hoped. Scully laid the bags on the kitchen table. She carefully pulled out Mulders present. She carefully wrapped each gift she had bought that day. Laying them in the bag by the door, she got in bed. Mulder opened the door, before Scully could knock on the door. "Morning, Scully." "Morning, Mulder. Ready to go?" "Yup. Let's go." He pulled out his suitcase and walked down the hall, and out the door. He put his suitcase in the trunk and stopped. He looked at Scully across the parking lot. "Shot-gun." "Ha ha. Damn straight." When they arrived at Maggie's house and knocked on the door, their was a scurry of small feet. "Aunt Dana!" yelled 4 little kids. "Who are you?" asked Charlie's oldest. "This is my-friend. Fox Mulder." "Hi Fox!" "Hi." "Dana! Fox!" Come in out of the cold!" Maggie ran down the hall to the front door. "Bill, go help with their suitcases." Maggie said to Bill. He, Charlie, and Charlie's wife had appeared at the door of the den. "Sure." He put out his hand to shake hands with Mulder. He said something along the lines of "hello Fox" and picked up a suitcase. They were all moving to the den. The suitcases were left in the hallway. "Hi Dana." Charlie's wife hugged her. "Hi. How've you been?" "Good. You?" "Pretty good." She turned and hugged Charlie. "Hey Charlie." "Hey Dana." Mulder flinched at the use of her first name. He knew it was stupid, because everyone there except for him had the last name Scully. "Hey Charlie, where'd the kids go?" "Here!" Yelled Charlie's oldest, Chassidy. She was closely followed by her siblings, Katrina and Brian. "Hi Aunt Dana!" they all yelled. Bills son, Andrew, and his sister, Jeannie ran from the hallway. "Hi again Fox!" yelled Andrew and Chassidy. "Hi." He was trying to remember the kids' names. Chassidy, 9, Andrew, 8, Katrina, 7, Brian, 5, and Jeannie, 4. Got it. And Charlie's wife's name is-Alison, and Bill's is Tiffany. Perfect. They were heading towards the tree to put the presents under it. The kids jumped. "Presents!" "Not for 2 more days, hon." Said Tiffany to Jeannie. "Oh!" groaned the kids. "Mulder, we should go put our stuff away. He nodded. They picked up their luggage and walked up the stairs. "Are they going to kiss?" they heard Brian say. "You can stay in here Mulder. I'll be in the room next door. If you need anything, just holler." She left the room. Mulder started to unpack. Scully, in the next room, was doing the same. She unpacked her things in her room, the one her and Missy used to share. Mulder was Charlie's old room, Bill and his wife in his old room, Charlie and Alison in the spare, Mrs. Scully in hers, and the kids were in the loft. Scully frowned. She hoped Bill wouldn't be rude to Mulder. She knew he blamed Mulder for everything that happened to her and Missy. Oh well, he could think what he wanted. She was big girl and could take care of herself. Downstairs, Mrs. Scully asked Bill to help her set the table. When they came in the kitchen, she stopped him. "William Scully, Jr. You listen, and you listen well, because I'm only gonna say this once. Fox is my guest, and if you do anything to upset him or Dana, you'll pay for it. Understand?" He nodded. "Good." They finished setting the table. "Dinners ready!" Mrs. Scully said. 5 sets of little feet ran into the dinning room. "You guys get your own table." Scully told them. After the kids were settled in, the adults sat down at their table. They ate as much as they could without bursting. "Thank you Mrs. Scully, it was delicious." "Fox, I've told you many times before, call me Maggie," "Okay, Maggie." "Hon, I think it's time for the kids to go to bed." Tiffany said to Bill, looking at the kids. "I think you're right." "Me and Scu- Dana will put them to bed." He shot a glance at Scully, and was relieved to find she wasn't angry. "Thanks Fox." SO they went along the task of putting the children to bed. "Fox," whispered Brian, "do you love my Aunt Dana?" "Well, Brian, that's a secret." After putting the children to bed they went down stairs. "What's a secret?" Scully had asked when they left the loft. "Now, if I told you, it wouldn't be a secret anymore." He smiled devilishly. "Evil. Pure Evil." He just laughed. They spent the night, relaxing in front of the fire. Everyone talked and they were all pretty happy. At about 11:30 Tiffany and Bill went upstairs. Alison and Charlie followed shortly and at about 12 Maggie wen tot bed. "Scully, I want to thank you for inviting me." "Mulder, the fun starts on Christmas Eve here. Just wait `till tomorrow." "Oh yeah. Why's that?" "Now if I told you, it wouldn't be a secret anymore." She got up and kissed him on the cheek. " `Night * Fox *" she said his name in a teasing tone. " `Night * Dana *" her name, equally teasing. Mulder was wakened to little feet running in his room. "Fox! Wake-up! It's Christmas Eve morning!" He looked at his watch. 7 am <> In the next room, Scully was getting the same treatment. "Wake-up Aunt Dana!" At about 7:30, they were downstairs, dressed and showered, drinking hot cocoa. Maggie came in. "Good morning everyone." "Morning Maggie." Mulder said. He was the only one to answer with actual words. Everyone just gave various nods, grunts or snorts. "Everyone ready?" and again, they all nodded, grunted or said yes, save Mulder who had now idea what she was talking about. After a half-hour of getting ready, they were discussing cars. "Me, Tiff, and our kids can go in our car." "Me, Charlie, our kids, and you," she said, nodding in Maggie's direction "can go in our van." "What about Fox and Dana?" "We can go in our car," Mulder said quickly, " I'll just follow you guys in our car." "Sure," So everyone got in their respective cars and they were off. "So, Dana," he'd gotten in the habit of calling her that. That'd change by New Years Eve. "Where we going?" "Every year, the Scully family does the same thing. Go down to our cabins, take a sleigh ride, drink hot chocolate, make snowmen and snow forts and snow angles, have a snow ball fight, and when we come home, we sing for the most well decorated and lit house." "Ahh." Was all he had to say. "Welcome to the Scully cabins!" They arrived at the cabins. The children ran in after Maggie opened the door. "Bathroom's mine!" someone yelled. All of the kids went to the bathroom. When they were all done, Bill went to get the sleigh. He came back with bells on the sleigh. "Just hear those sleigh bells ring-" Mulder said, just loud enough for Dana to hear. "Ha ha ha." They all piled into the sleigh. It was a tight squeeze, but they made it, with Dana siting on Fox's lap. "Dana can sit on Fox's lap!" Maggie suggested. Dana turned bright red and there was a light snowfall. When it got colder, Dana got closer to Fox. Drinking hot cocoa in front of the fire, Maggie smiled. After Dana nailed Fox with a snowball, she felt sorry and brought him in. And he was milking it for all it's worth. They were back at Maggie's house and the kids were in bed asleep. The adults were sitting around the fire. Alison and Charlie on the couch, Bill and Tiffany on the floor, Maggie in her lazy-boy, and Dana and Fox on the love seat. They wondered if they'd been voluntold there as a coincidence or some sort of conspiracy. She smiled. Dana was sounding like Mulder now. She looked at him a quietly snuck her hand in his. Alleluia! Maggie was hearing bells. Finally! Not counting the sleigh ride, they were touching each other, in other ways than just the hand on the small of her back or on the elbow guiding him out of a room. <> "I'm going to bed. `Night." " `Night mom. Actually, me and Charlie are goin' up too." They got up and left. "Yeah, us too." Dana and Mulder suddenly found themselves alone on a love seat in front of a fire, holding hands and Dana notice. But she didn't care. Bill, in his room, lay down. His sister, Dana Katherine Scully was in front of a fire with Fox Mulder. The guy, who killed Melissa, endangered Dana's life countless times, caused her cancer, and the losing of her child. "Honey? Something wrong?" Tiffany asked. Tiffany was a shortish woman, only 5'3 and with brown hair and blue eyes. She was not really plain, but not beautiful either. Just like Bill. "Nope." He said in a cheerful voice. Charlie looked at his wife. Blond hair and green eyes, she was stunning. His friends said she was only with him `cause he paid her too, but they never really meant it. "What do you think of Dana & Fox, Hon? You know, as a couple?" "I think they make a cute couple, but Bill sure as hells don't. You know, he blames Mulder for everything that's happened to Dana and Melissa. He doesn't seem to get it that she's a big girl now." "They look so good together, too bad neither'll take a chance." Charlie smiled. "Yeah, but I got a plan." Charlie told his mother the plan. Holding the gift in his hands, she nodded. "Great idea, Charlie." "She took the present down and under the tree. Dana and Fox were snuggled up together. After putting out the fire and pulling up the blanket, she went back to bed, She couldn't wait for the next morning. "Aunt Dana! Aunt Dana! Wake-up! It's Christmas!" Scully woke up, and smiled. She loved the kids, but it was 6am. "Go wake-up Fox. He'd love to see you this time of the morning." So they scampered off and she got up and put on a housecoat. She could hear Mulder groan in the next room. She laughed. He'd just love this. Downstairs, Maggie made a cup of tea. The kids ran down the stairs, trailing everyone behind them. She heard an assortment of "I'm opening mine first!" and "No, you did last year!" They all sat down and Maggie picked up a gift. "This one's for-Katrina." After dolls, trucks, marbles, candy, chocolate, every imaginable toy, and than some was opened, it was time to open the adult's gifts. "Here Bill, from me and Alison." Said Charlie. A bottle of scotch, and Tiffany a book she wanted. Maggie got a quilt, Scully a book, etc. "Here **Dana**, a gift from me." Mulder said, handing a present to her. She opened it to find a box of assorted bubble baths. "Thank-you **Fox**" she whispered "Maybe you'll get lucky and I'll let you join me." she smiled. "Here's yours from me." She handed him a nicely wrapped gift. He ripped it open like a child. "'Abnormal activities and Paranormal sightings: a movie on alien abduction.' Scully! I've been dying for this tape." "You're welcome." He grabbed her and hugged her. She whispered in his ear. "I have another tape for you, but I didn't bring it here. It belongs in that drawer of tapes that don't belong to you." "And the last gift is for Dana and Fox." She smiled. She couldn't wait to see their faces. "From all of us." Mulder and Scully looked at each other and began to open it. Scully saw it first. She turned an interesting color of red. As did Mulder. "A mistletoe?" "Get the hint?" blurted out Tiffany. Mulder nodded, hung it up, grabbed Scully, dipped her back and kissed her. Everyone clapped. "Mulder, I can't believe we did that." "Me neither, **Dana**" "Smart-ass." She muttered. They were on the back step, drinking cocoa and talking. Mostly about "it". "What do we do now?" "I don't know. I'm going to bed, Scully. See you in the morning." " `Night." He got up and started walking towards the door. "Scully?" she looked at him. "You mind if I maybe do that again, sometime?" "No, **Fox**, not at all." XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Hate it? Love it? Praise, cash, and major credit cards excepted. Oh yeah, and feedback. I crave the stuff.
